Peter Crofts has a strong commercial background having practised for many years as a partner and in-house counsel with the international chartered accounting firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.

 

Prior to this, Peter worked with the National Crime Authority and a city law firm.He was admitted to practice in 1982 and signed the Roll of Counsel in November 2001. Peter read with Jim Delany.

 

In addition to his legal background he holds qualifications in accounting and psychology and is an accredited mediator. Since signing the Bar Roll, Peter has continued to work in the commercial area accepting briefs in a range of matters, which have as their common thread the need to deal effectively with financial material. He has also conducted trials in all Victorian jurisdictions. Matters he has been briefed in include:

Peter’s experience and background is such that he is able to bring considerable commercial experience to a matter and support more senior counsel in addressing complex financial issues.

 

Peter is a part time lecturer at Monash and Melbourne Universities and was until 2006 Deputy Chair of the Marine Parks Compensation Appeals Tribunal.
