5/5

An accredited specialist in local government and town planning law, Susan Marie Hill, has been a solicitor for more than 35 years.

Susan noticed that graduate lawyers working in busy law firms were often missing out on training in many of the bottom-line, practical skills essential for being an effective lawyer.

Also a qualified coach, Susan combined legal experience with coaching techniques, to write A New Lawyer’s Guide to Getting it Right the First Time (LexisNexis). Structured as a straightforward handbook, it breaks practical legal skills down into step-by-step processes that can be easily understood, followed and applied by newly admitted lawyers.

Aware that the high-pressure demands of legal practice leave senior lawyers with little time for systematically teaching basic practical skills to juniors, Susan has developed the Early Career Lawyer (ECL) Micro Learning Series to fill the training gap.

Course modules focus exclusively on topics that are directly relevant to paralegals, graduate lawyers and juniors with up to 3 years’ experience. Each session is packed full with practical tips covering everything you need to know about legal practical skills, all explained for you in clear, simple terms.

Monday Meet Ups with participant Q&A plus on-demand, online format means that, instead of missing out, new lawyers can be effectively trained by an experienced senior lawyer at their own pace. As well as accelerating their progress, providing skills support and guidance can benefit their workplace wellbeing and contribute to ongoing job satisfaction.
